The Rescue

HNH is designed to bring dignity back to the animals our society has neglected, abused and forgotten. We are open to rescue livestock of all sorts in order to give them a safe place to heal, continue important conversations through their recoveries, and give them the brightest futures possible. Our team has a soft spot for especially young horses, those dubbed dangerous, mares with weanlings or in foal, and dumped race horses. Not to mention, senior horses and all the barn yard critters. Ultimately, we are open to any livestock animal in need of our care and advocacy. We partner with other rescue organizations to alleviate their herd of more “difficult” horses, allow surrenders to take animals in tumultuous situations, and those step in on behalf of those left to their own devices at kill pens or auctions. Where there is a need, we will try to meet it whenever possible.

Let’s Talk

Advocacy has always been at the heart of HNH. When a 19 year old without multitudes of money starts a nonprofit, it’s only natural to step into a role of advocacy even before the limited numbers of stalls fill up. Six years later, we are still stepping up to continue being a voice for what we feel is inherently ethical. Some of our content goes in depth on the following conversations:

Animal Abuse

farm ecology

ethical training

Our Direction

A place where, animals and people are mutually transformed by the power of empathetic connection. We are establishing a facility allowing a hands-on experience with the animals for cognitive behavioral therapy and life skills, all while those same animals learn to trust again. We will continue to have a sanctuary for retired horses needing a redemptive, peaceful season for their life on earth and repurpose horses needing a trauma sensitive home. HNH will also continue to rehome animals ready for a forever family and channel the flow of horses in need to fosters.
