The HNH Sanctuary is located at 14715 S Rose Canyon Rd, Herriman 84096

We highly recommend closed toe shoes and require any riders to have closed-toed and heeled shoes. Please dress weather appropriate, but always wear long pants of the denim variety if riding.

Visitors are not allowed to bring treats as our horses are actually treat trained. It can get a little confusing when visitors give snacks outside of training!

Open waitlists are available on the calendar and waitlist pages. Your best bet for early notification is through the Herd Herald newsletter, which can be found at the bottom of every HNH webpage.

Horses are so fun, but they are also prey animals which means they can startle easily. They are also grazers which means they can become unwell with foreign foods. Here are some basic rules to follow:

• Never enter a horse’s stall, run, paddock, turn out or arena without explicit instruction from an HNH teacher or staffer

  • There are a lot of guidelines, trips, tricks and safety measures when in a horse’s space. Wait for a teacher or staffer, always.

• Never feed a horse food not approved by an HNH teacher or staffer. Always ask and be prepared for a treat we have in our barn.

• Refrain from running by the horses. Most of our horses don’t startle easily, but a running child could signal to a horse that danger is near, so we try to teach everyone to avoid running by them to create good habits.

• Their fuzzy mouths are so cute, but horses can’t see right in front of their noses. They can’t tell if you have a carrot or finger for them to crunch. So hands out of mouths and slow to touch their muzzles.

• Always bring your teachable self to the barnyard. Beyond that gate you walk through to the stables, our horses can handle the hurt and struggle we have, but they need respect, kindness and space to help you through it. Leave the anger or hardheartedness at the gate, let the horses replace it with healing and love instead.
