Norman was a racehorse that fell in and out of abusive, deceitful hands as well as loving ones. Shortly after getting him from a racehorse retirement nonprofit, Norman had a steep decline in health. They say the health of a horse comes out in their feet, boy are they right. Norman was terrified of people, blinded by panic, tense with fear and explosive, even with kind voices, gentle hands and compassionate training. All of that stress can out in hoof lameness—without management he could barely walk and was in tremendous pain. Norman has been retired to HNH forever as a symbol of the “invisible hurt” we often cant understand or see. He is living his best life as a meet and greet buddy, workshop example and pasture puff to our herd.
